Capcom announced that the re-release of the remastered version of Resident Evil: Revelations will be making its way onto the Xbox One and PS4 starting August 29th at the end of this month. The Nintendo Switch version will launch later in 2017 following the release on the other two home consoles.

Now you might be wondering why is the Switch version delayed? Is this another one of those Wii U situations? Well, yes and no. The release will be delayed (much like many of the Wii U ports) but it’s for a good reason. You see Capcom is adding in Resident Evil: Revelations 2 for Switch owners, so they’ll get both games for the price of one, which is pretty cool.

The base story mode will be available, along with all of the previously released DLC, and unlockable rewards. An added Raid Mode will make an appearance, which includes a revamped Ghost Ship: Chaos map, including new and powerful weapons and remixed enemy placements. The Raid Mode will also include a two-player co-op option in case you wanted to play with a friend online.

This iteration of Resident Evil: Revelations will also include four different control schemes based on the different setups featured throughout the Resident Evil series.

The game originally came out back in 2012 for the Nintendo 3DS, but then ended up getting re-released for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in 2013. Not content with letting the game miss an opportunity to make them some money on the eighth gen twins, Capcom has decided to re-release the game on the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch to cash-in on a little bit of extra moola.

When Capcom said that they would be porting games to the Switch I didn’t think they would mean that they would be doing it so soon. Anyway, I imagine Switch owners are happy to know that more games are coming soon to the system, and just in time for the holiday season at that.
