Shadow Tactics: Blades Of The Shogun Now Available For PS4, Xbox One

Shadow Tactics from Mimimi Productions originally came out back in 2016 for PC. We had a review up for the game and a couple of news stories leading up to its release. It was a generally liked game with an interesting premise and a handful of different characters, each with their own distinct abilities.

Daedalic Entertainment took the opportunity to make some tweaks, tap some changes, and tinker with some code to get the game on the Xbox One and PlayStation starting today. You can download the game from the Xbox Store or the PlayStation Store right now.

If you need a bit of a refresher course on what the game is like, it’s best described as a new-age Edo version of Commandos. Players will take control of a band of mercenaries carrying out missions in a Feudal Japan, utilizing stealth and distraction to take out foes and complete your missions. You can check out the gameplay trailer below to see what Shadow Tactics is like in action.

You’ll have five different playable characters at your disposal, each with their own pros and cons depending on how you plan to approach the missions.

If you’re not entirely sure about this game, Daedalic also let loose a free playable demo on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store so you can download it and see if it’s something that fits your play-style or what you would want out of an isometric strategy game.

There’s also a panoramic cinematic showcasing all of the playable characters and giving you a brief look at their special abilities. It’s a lot more up close and personal than what you get from the gameplay trailer above.

Consoles don’t typically get games like this, so we’ll see how well it plays out in terms of sales.

We also have a reviewer working on a review of the console version to let you know whether or not it’s worth purchasing on the PS4 or Xbox One.
