One of the key tenets of a successful dogfight is being able to make the wind your slave, and the turbine-propelled metal that grinds through the atmosphere your chariot. You’ll need to know when to dive, when to pull up, when to stall, and when to free-fall. In the case of Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown a new trailer briefly covers the evasive maneuvers that you will need to employ if you hope to best the pilots of opposing sides while you seek to take the throne as the king of the skies.

The trailer is just barely over a minute long and was released by Bandai Namco in lieu of the Tokyo Game Show currently taking place over in Tokyo, Japan. VR Focus spotted the new trailer that highlights how you can perform aerial ballet in what amounts to a flying 19kg gunship. You can check it out below.

The short clip starts with a typical dogfight scenario: Plane A is chasing Plane B.

Things escalate as Plane A closes in on Plane B, but before a lock can be secured we see Plane B slam on the brakes in mid-air, stall for a fraction of a second, and then resume flight by targeting Plane A again.

We then get to see a couple of other fancy maneuvers, including a 360-swirl, providing just enough deceleration in velocity to force his tailgater to zip ahead and put them in perfect targeting position for a good heat-seeking missile blast.

We see a variety of these kind of maneuvers throughout the quick and snappy trailer, essentially revealing that it’s not too difficult to execute some fancy flying in Skies Unknown when the heat is on and you’re in the Danger Zone.

You can look for Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown to drop in 2018 for PS4, PC, PlayStation VR, and Xbox One.
