Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Now Available On Nintendo Switch For $49.99

It’s a year late and a platform slow, but if you really care about the Nintendo Switch getting sloppy seconds from the PS4 and Xbox One, you’ll probably care about Bandai Namco and Dimps currently making Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 available right now for the Nintendo Switch.

The game is available right now in the West for the Switch for $49.99. The game sports a couple of new editions for the Switch not available on the other home consoles or PC, such as ad hoc play for up to six players via the local area network. This includes both 3-on-3 PvP modes and the six-player raid boss battles designed for co-op play.

They’ve also added some all new ways to play the game, such as the HD rumble and motion controls in order to pull off certain special moves. It’s a neat addition to the game that companies like Microsoft could have leveraged for the Xbox One if they didn’t kill off complete support for Kinect 2.0. Anyway, you can see how the Switch version looks with the launch trailer below.

Eric Hartness, the VP of marketing at Bandai Namco Entertainment America also chimed in on the press release about how the game’s controls and mechanics have been fine-tuned and exclusively overhauled for the Switch, saying…

“The XENOVERSE series of DRAGON BALL games have expanded the DRAGON BALL universe in ways that were unimaginable only a few years ago. Now with DRAGON BALL Xenoerse 2 for Nintendo Switch, we’re expanding the DRAGON BALL experience further, through creative use of the Nintendo Switch’s unique features and control design.”

Not much has changed prima facie, but I’m sure they had to make some performance or spec sacrifices to get the game to run right proper in the portable mode. Then again, Dragon Ball Xenoverse was designed for the PS3 and Xbox 360 originally, so it’s no surprise that they would be able to squeeze the sequel down to size for the Nintendo Switch.

Anyway, one neat thing about it is that you can play the game in tabletop mode with a single set of Joy-Cons in a two-player battle mode, which is kind of cool. The standard single-player mode is also intact, along with the online matchmaking and co-op modes from the other versions of the game.

You can pick up a digital copy or physical copy of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 right now for the Nintendo Switch. You can learn more by checking out the Nintendo game page.
