Two new entrance videos have popped up for WWE 2K18, featuring Braun Strowman and The New Day. The first entrance is pretty basic, featuring the Monster Among Men making his way to the ring after a roar on the entrance ramp and a basic pose.
I should note that Braun doesn’t really look real at all. He looks like he was copied over from WWE 2K17 or something, especially when you compare him – scale wise – to other wrestlers like Randy Orton and John Cena. You can check out the video below, which was posted up on UpUpDownDown.
The second video features The New Day, with Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston and Big E making their way down to the ring.
The colorfully charismatic trio of unicorn-riding, Booty-O spewing, and trumpet playing pranksters dance down to the ring and do what they usually do.
Visually the characters look okay, but they’re some sort of deadness to them as they make their entrance. Kofi doesn’t seem very expressive facially, and Xavier looks like he’s suffering from the typical dead-eye effect.
So far WWE 2K18 is a mixed bag when it comes to the character models. The lighting is definitely better and the entrance animations look fairly decent. I’m definitely not sold on the actual in-game play since it’s like this awful hybrid between an arcade game and a fighting game and it doesn’t seem to know what kind of identity it wants to settle on.
My biggest issue is that the game lacks the necessary back and forth ring psychology that we’ve come to know and love from the real life product (mostly NXT). There’s just a lot of moves being thrown out but not a whole lot of meaning behind the moves, so it feels stale pretty quick.
