60 Parsecs! Has Gamers Attempting To Comically Survive In Space

Robot Gentlemen decided to do a follow-up game to their indie smash hit, 60 Seconds !. The original game was about a family having to survive a nuclear holocaust, and players had only 60 seconds to gather all the necessary supplies before heading down into the bunker and attempt to wait out the effects of radiation. Well the sequel, 60 Parsecs!, takes place in space and is based on the Cold War-era of pulp sci-fi from the 1950s and 1960s.

Players will this time have to deal with surviving in space… more specifically, surviving 60 parsecs.

The announcement trailer for the game featuring a synthesized remix of “Thus Spake Zarathustra” is quite fitting, especially with the various space junk flying out of a rickety ship making its way through hyper space. You can check out the trailer below.

While the trailer doesn’t reveal anything at all about the game, the press release indicates that 60 Parsecs! will feature a number of improvements and upgrades over 60 Seconds!, including an all new crafting system, and a “deeper” more “personal” narrative surrounding the fate of a seemingly doomed crew who planet-hop their way around the galaxy.

Some of the screenshots for the game also reveal a few of the unwelcoming outcomes for a few of the crew members, including the black guy turning into a fungus monster of sorts. Check it out below.

Just like the original game you still only have 60 seconds to scavenge goods and then make due with whatever you get your hands on, whether those items are useful or not is entirely up to what you get your mitts on.

Unlike the original game, Robot Gentlemen expanded the scope of 60 Parsecs! to include a vast, procedurally generated galaxy with a non-linear story and rogue-lite elements to keep players on their toes.

You can look for 60 Parsecs! to arrive on Steam soon enough, but for now we’ll have to wait for the developers to hash out an official release date for the game. In the meantime don’t hesitate to visit the official website.
