Assassin’s Creed: Origins Minimum Specs On PC Runs At 720p, 30fps

Ubisoft released the full system specifications for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Origins. In addition to revealing the minimum and recommended requirements, Ubisoft also had the producer for global coordination on development, Jose Araiza, explain how the game being made on PC isn’t some leftover, hand-me-down experience like previous Assassin’s Creed outings.

The news went live over on the Ubisoft Blog, where Araiza explained…

“The PC platform overall is really important to us, that is why the PC version was developed in parallel with all the other versions by the main team in Montreal, in collaboration with our PC-dedicated team in Ubisoft Kiev. This approach was adopted while the game features were being designed, making PC and mouse-and-keyboard controls a full part of the equation from the get-go.”

This is a departure from Ubisoft’s typical modus operandi, where they usually give PC gamers the scraps from development, leaving them to fend for themselves in the wasteland of troubleshooting.

Assassin's Creed Origins PC Specs

This time around they want to make sure the game runs on as many different hardware configurations as possible, as smoothly as possible. If you meet the minimum specs you should be able to play the game at 720p and 30fps even.

If you meet the recommended specs you can run the game between 1080p and 1200p at 30fps. If you have super-high specs you can run the game at 4K and 30fps.

Of course, specifications are probably one of the least talked about things regarding Assassin’s Creed: Origins. Ubisoft faces massive backlash over complaints about them “blackwashing” Egypt by turning the denizens into dark-skinned Africans.

The conversation about the game since its announcement at E3 spawned a wave of comments about “We Wuz Kangz!” on the YouTube videos and forum boards for Assassin’s Creed.

Things continued to escalate until content creators began banning commenters and comments posting “We Wuz” or any variation of the phrase.

The moderators on Steam had to nearly wipe the boards after the forums were taken over with the “we wuz kangz” threads.

Some damage control was attempted via a massive dissertation on Reddit about the issue, but it’s already a black cloud looming over the release of the game.

Whether or not they’ll be able to dispel the racial tensions before the game hits store shelves remain to be seen, but it appears that Ubisoft is at least trying to court PC gamers back into the fold, especially after the longstanding issues with Assassin’s Creed: Unity.
