Dual Universe Pre-Alpha Trailer Previews Player-Built Cities

Dual Universe was recently on the receiving end of a brand new teaser trailer showcasing the game’s custom creation utility that allows gamers to create cities, ships, and even space stations. The trailer is a teaser that doesn’t do much but give gamers a quick look at the various creations that can be made in the game.

The teaser first gives gamers a look at the procedural planet generation, and then it takes a step further by showcasing one of the player-created ships, which looks an awful lot like the ship from The Last Starfighter.

You can check out the teaser trailer below.

As the camera pans around, we begin to see the city in the background that players have presumably built by other players.

It’s still a long ways off from release but it teases how gamers will be able to fuel the economy, the trading, politics, diplomacy and war.

The pre-alpha phase will give gamers a small taste of what’s to come with Dual Universe.

After they managed to successfully get the game Kickstarted, Novaquark is now set to continue the crowdfunding via their official website. Jean-Christophe Baillie, CEO at Novaquark, commented about the game’s tech and how they plan on advancing the game’s underlying engine technology with post-Kickstarter community funding, saying in the press release…

“Following up our recent global $7.4M mark in fundraising, this public Pre-Alpha milestone is very important to us and our community. Our proprietary CSSC (Continuous Single-Shard Cluster) and voxel engine technologies are now benchmarked for the first time with real players and not just bots.”

The voxel engine will allow players to not only build vehicles and homes, but also dynamically alter the planets across the virtual universe as well.

The game has garnered a total of €6 million so far in funding, and they’re continuing to rack up the euros.
