Honest Trailers Creator Andy Signore Fired For Sexual Misconduct

Andy Signore Fired

Honest Trailers creator Andy Signore has been fired by Defy Media after human resources launched an investigation into sexual misconduct allegations were levied against Signore.

In a statement posted on Twitter by the official Screen Junkies account, they announced that Signore had been fired.

If you’re unable to read the tweet, it states…

“Defy Media and Screen Junkies have today terminated Andy Signore’s employment, effective immediately. There is simply no justification for this egregious and intolerable behavior.

“In August, Defy’s [Human Resources] team was made aware of allegations made against Andy, at which time at which time an investigation was launched. On Friday, new information became available and the scope and magnitude of his inappropriate actions became apparent. We are acting swiftly to address the concerns of the people affected, and that going forward, our community is free of harassment or discrimination of any kind.

“Our Screen Junkies colleagues and freelancers are a team of remarkable creators serving loyal fans and we will support and protect them. If anyone else is aware of behavior of this time, we would encourage them to bring it to our attention.”

The investigation was only launched after there was a massive public outcry (and subsequent backlash) when several former contributors and interns at Screen Junkies publicly came forward to talk about their experiences with Signore. One of the unpaid interns alleged that Signore would regularly make inappropriate advances toward her, including going so far as to joke about masturbating to pictures of her in her underwear, and followed that up by inviting her over to his place to do it in person.

The accounts of workplace misconduct were chronicled over on Deadline.

Much like Harvey Weinstein, who was also recently fired for 30 years of sexual misconduct, Signore also championed for women on social media, even running to the defense of 2016 Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton by reproaching a user for “supporting misogyny”.

In one particular tweet, Signore ironically championed for women rights while proclaiming that you can’t “force yourself on them”, which was in response to people who were critical of Signore being critical of Donald Trump and his supporters.

While Signore wasn’t quite as boisterous about his male feminism as others who have been outed or charged, he did take an opportunity to swipe at #GamerGate briefly in the Honest Trailer for Wreck-It Ralph, claiming that the butch female soldier from the movie was “GamerGate’s Worst Nightmare”. It appears Signore’s worst nightmare is a woman speaking up about male feminist behavior.
