Jydge, Twin-Stick Shooter Inspired By Judge Dredd Arrives On Nintendo Switch

10Tons managed to release two games for the Nintendo Switch in a single month. First it was Neon Chrome and now it’s Jydge. The game is a twin-stick futuristic shooter, with two-player cooperative option, various upgrades to unlock, and a strong focus on level replayability.

You can pick up a digital copy of Jydge right now from over on the Nintendo eShop for $14.99.

The game is an isometric shooter where you take on the role of an android enforcer known as a Jydge. The game is set within the same world as Neon Chrome, but the inspiration for Jydge is obviously mirrored after 2000AD’s Judge Dredd. Heck, instead of using the Law Bringer players utilize the Gavel Gun.

The weapon allows players to unlock upgrades and change its fire mode among lead, shotguns, plasma, and ion shots (among others), and you can also add modifications to the weapon as you complete more levels and unlock new medals.

Different types of weapons are effective against various types of enemies, while others are more efficient for certain mission types such as rescuing hostages or carrying out stealth missions. You can get an idea as to what the gameplay is like with the video below from Nokzen.

The hook for the game is that you can only progress by collecting medals by completing certain objectives in stages. The more medals you unlock the more levels you’ll be able to access. The levels get harder as you unlock additional difficulty settings that have additional medals you can earn, which in turn allows you to access even more levels.

There’s a strong rinse and repeat factor to the replay structures, which makes it very different from 10Ton’s Neon Chrome.

Even still, the actual gameplay is quite solid and the destructible environments is a welcome touch.

You can grab a copy of the game right now from the Nintendo eShop, or you can check out some reviews to see if it’s worth the price of entry.
