Stardew Valley Launches On Nintendo Switch October 5th For $14.99

Lone developer ConcernedApe took to the official Stardew Valley website and announced that Stardew Valley, the slice-of-life farming simulator, will officially launch on the Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo Switch on October 5th for $14.99.

It turns out that ConcernedApe worked with Sickhead Games to get the port for the Nintendo Switch developed and out the door. Chucklefish was also overseeing the project, making sure that all the developers worked in silence like politicians using private e-mail servers to communicate deep state policies.

Details on the Switch version of Stardew Valley are non-existent. ConcernedApe doesn’t talk any bit about what sort of features will be present, other than that this is the first time that the game will be available on a portable device. That’s half true given that the Switch can also be used a stationary TV-style home console.

I suppose we can assume that the game will make use of the Joy-Cons, but we don’t know if that means that HD rumble support or any gyroscopic abilities will be present as well.

Nintendo’s little console that could has so far been home to a heck of a lot of indie ports so far, but I doubt too many people are complaining given that it’s a lot of quality indie games and not those sorry excuse for indie games that aren’t real games where you just open drawers and beat the game by going to the attic.

Anyway, Stardew Valley (for the handful of you living under a rock who have never heard of it) is a Harvest Moon-style game where you create a character, manage your farm, acquire farm animals, grow some crops, go spelunking, unearth treasures in caves, battle some evil creatures underground, attempt to romance some of the towns folks, and eventually grow your farm into a successful enterprise. It’s like the real life farming dream of America before the government stepped in and subsidized it into little more than a cursed deal in the devil’s hand-purse.

You can purchase Stardew Valley right now on PC for just $14.99 from over on the Steam store. You can look to get your hands on the Switch version starting this Thursday on October 5th.
