Want to be the ultimate master baiter in Warframe? If so, Digital Extremes have released a new expansion for their game that brings fishing via the Plains of Eidolon update, and this guide covers fishing tips and tricks. Warframe is out now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
In order to start the fishing process you must head to Earth’s Cetus node, a new place that appeared in updated 22, that will take you to the Plains of Eidolon. From here, head to a shop-keeper named Fisher Hai-Luk, better known as an Ostron vendor, who sells various fishing equipment and bait. Fisher Hai-Luk allows you to trade in your catches for Ostron points or to turn them in for bait and resources.
Buying a Fishing Spear
After selecting “Browse Wares,” purchase the Lanzo Fishing Spear or the Tulok Fishing Spear for 500 Ostron points or 2,000 Ostron points. Additionally, it should be noted that Fishing Spears behave like harpoons with a retractable line, meaning that you will need to lead your target before throwing your Fishing Spear at a moving fish.
After purchasing said items you can equip them by opening your Gear and placing whichever item wherever in the wheel-slot.
Tips and Tricks
First Tip: Open your map and keep it open to find a large body of water. Upon settling on a place that seems like it would hold a nice amount of fish, stand near or in a shore for a little while for the fish to appear.
Second Tip: Listen carefully for noises such as bubbles, this usually indicates that a fish is nearby and will appear. However keep in mind that some fishes are silent.
Third Tip: Make sure to thoroughly inspect the area you are fishing in/around so that when a failed attempt at catching a fish becomes that much worse, you have an ideal where it might scurry off to. Make sure to utilize your Bullet Jump to catch maximum height to catch a bird’s eye view of the pond to track any lost fish.
Fourth Tip: If you happen to fish at night there is a way for you to see those slippery night fish creatures. Make sure to stock up on Luminous Dye to see them better.

Make sure to explore and test things out yourself in case some things don’t work for you in the grand scheme of things. In other words, conduct as many tests as you can so that you can gauge what actually works for you and what doesn’t work.
