CD Projekt Red has heard the outcry and weary concerns of gamers regarding Cyberpunk 2077 featuring a form of microtransactions and has assured fans that the game will be on the line of The Witcher 3 — single-player, open world, story-driven RPG — with no hidden catches. Gamers will reportedly get what they pay for, wherein CDPR will leave greed to others.
Not too long ago, a lot of gamers became concerned when Adam Kiciński took up an interview with Polish publication outlet strefainwestorow.pl. The very reason why concern was stressed over the past few days comes in by this section of the interview with Kiciński saying the following:
“Multiplayer is strategically important, playing online is strategically important, because we want to have a commercial leg for service type games, games which generate stable income, period to period, which are built. Of course, every game ends after a number of years, some service type games function even after 10 years, but outside our main source of income, meaning big names, it’s building a stable source of income. And in the future, we can imagine a lot of connections between big games and service type games – We have to acknowledge it, it is obvious.”

As of recent, though, CDPR noticed the talk about microtransactions and even responded to YouTuber Pretty Good Gaming about the video discussing “games as a service” in relation to Cyberpunk 2077. Here’s the response that CDPR posted to PrettyBadTweets regarding Cyberpunk 2077 and what its base model will be like at launch:

So, basically, CDPR is saying that when folks get their hands on Cyberpunk 2077 it will feature a huge world with single-player RPG elements in an open world that is story-driven. No hidden catches will be sprinkled throughout, just honest gaming with no greed.
I’m not sure if CDPR other future games will acknowledge service models given the stable income comment, but, according to CDPR, there will be no shady practices within or surrounding Cyberpunk 2077.
The next piece of information regarding Cyberpunk 2077 and Kiciński sees the engine up and running after being asked if the game’s engine has been complete via publication site Puls Biznesu:
“The engine is up and running. Of course it will be further developed. At each of our games we had to develop technology very well and this time it was the same. It must be appropriate for our needs with the specific title and the world we create and match the capabilities of the devices available on the market. Therefore, the engine needs constant updating – its modifications usually take place to a very late stage.”
As expected, when the publication site asked Kiciński about Cyberpunk 2077’s release date, the expected and unsure answer of “next year?” popped up, as noted below:
“You have to wait patiently for the official announcement. We will not announce the date this year, will we make an announcement next year? I can’t say for certain. Commenting on the speculation market would be unfavorable for us.”
