MXGP3, Motorcross Racing Game Now Available For Nintendo Switch

Milestone announced that the motorcross racing game, MXGP3: The Official Video Game, is now available both digitally and physically at participating retailers for the Nintendo Switch. It didn’t seem like the sort of game that would make its way to the Switch, but it somehow managed to do so.

The game features the entire 2016 seasonal roster featuring all of the professional riders from the previous season, along with the all new 2-stroke bike models. There 10 different types of bikes in the game, along with full customization, as you get a hold of a bike, deck it out with the tuning settings that best suit your play-style, and then take it to the dirt to race against other riders.

The official launch trailer recently went live, featuring a quick look at the game’s unprecedented level of realistic graphics for the Nintendo Switch. You can check it out below.

I have to admit that I’m thoroughly impressed with the lighting models they’ve used for the game, because not only do the riders look fantastic but the environments look great, too.

Milestone really seems to have utilized their expertise over the last couple of years to hone in on a more realistic shader system to capture the gradient transition between shadows and highlights, along with natural lighting and soft shadows.

The launch trailer shows the game running at a full 60fps, but it’s hard to tell if that’s actually true. One person in the comment section on the YouTube video points out that the game on the Switch does not support the full grid of racers on the tracks at one time, which is kind of disappointing.

The game does support single-player and online play, though, and you can race across the various tracks either in multiplayer or the career mode.

It would probably be best to wait on picking up a copy until the reviews start piling in, but otherwise you can learn more about MXGP3 by visiting the official website. MXGP3 is currently available for the other gaming platforms as well, including PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
