Xbox Games With Gold For December, 2017 Contains Barely Mediocre Games

If you have an Xbox Live Gold subscription you’ll be treated to purely mediocre games for December, 2017’s Games With Gold outings next month. The full list of the four games was dropped over on the Xbox News Wire, where the two free Xbox One and Xbox 360 games were detailed.

The four games include Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide, Back to the Future: 30th Anniversary Edition, Child of Eden and Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death.

The line-up will give you up to 3840 gamerscore at an estimated $104 dollar value.

Now Fatshark’s Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide is a very well regarded game, and has managed to sell over 1.3 million copies on PC alone, according to Steam Spy. The cooperative survival title sees players being able to choose from five different hunters even though it’s a four-player game. The objective is to battle through a series of levels against mutant hordes of Skaven rat warriors. It’s set within the Gothic-fantasy era of Warhammer, giving gamers access to both projectile and melee based weapons. Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide will be available for free for XBL Gold subscribers between December 1st and December 31st.

Things begin sliding down the pole of quality with Telltale’s Back to the Future: 30th Anniversary Edition, which was well received by gamers but it’s only going to appeal to people who have a nostalgic hard-on for new Back to the Future stories or enjoy Telltale’s way of telling tales. Back to the Future: 30th Anniversary Edition will be available between December 16th, 2017 and January 15th, 2017 for the Xbox One.

Things begin to slide even further down the pole of quality, as we have the Xbox 360 psychedelic visual music game, Child of Eden, which will be available as a backwards compatible title for the Xbox One as well between December 1st and December 15th.

We round out with the confused and low budget third-person hack-and-slash game, Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death. This cheaply made game has been in my own Steam library for ages and I never touched it because it looked awful. Nevertheless, it will be freely available for Xbox 360 owners and as a backwards compatible title for the Xbox One between December 16th and December 31st.

So basically, the only good game on the list is Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide, and then there’s also Back to the Future that might appeal to some story-seeking gamers. Beyond those two the other Xbox 360 offerings are pretty much trash, making the Xbox Live Games With Gold offerings for December almost barely mediocre, or maybe even less so than that.
