BioShock Infinite Designer Returns To 2K Games For Unannounced Project

In recent news, it is speculated that a new BioShock game is in the works due to Shawn Elliott’s latest occupation status. Elliott once worked for Irrational Games, then moved to Arkane Studios, and finally made a journey to 2K Games to end up at his current job, which reveals his position at an unnamed studio cooking up an unnamed project.

Catching wind from GameRant we learn that Elliott, who not only left Arkane Studios to work on the Prey reboot, has joined back up with 2K Games. The unnamed studio in Novato, California is said to be working on a new project, which Elliott’s role stands as a principle combat designer.

Given that Elliott past occupation at Irrational Games as both an associate producer and level designer for BioShock Infinite would suggest that he is currently occupied with another BioShock game, but there’s no telling what this unannounced game is at the moment.

According to the publication site, it’s been suggested that the game is a first-person shooter based on an existing 2K Games franchise. If this is the case, a new BioShock title, for better or for worse, could be on the horizon.

Moreover, GameRant has stated that…

“We’ve known for years that 2K Games has planned on continuing the BioShock franchise without Ken Levine. While some would rather not see another BioShock game release without Levine’s creative input, it’s simply too popular of a franchise for 2K Games to ignore.”

Something worth pointing out, this unannounced project more than likely will have online/service type functions in some form, fashion or way. During a conference call that Gamasutra picked up, Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, told investors the following:

“We’ve said that we aim to have recurrent consumer spending opportunities for every title that we put out at this company. It may not always be an online model, it probably won’t always be a virtual currency model, but there will be some ability to engage in an ongoing basis with our titles after release across the board, that’s a sea change in our business. Recurrent consumer spending is 42 percent of our net bookings in the quarter. It’s been transformative for us.”

With all of that said, would you like to see a new BioShock game?
