Daedalic Entertainment has announced that the second book for Ken Follett’s The Pillars of the Earth is currently available right now over on GOG.com and Steam as part of the three-book season pass for $29.99.
The second book picks up from where the first one left off, with the ragtag gang of Jack, Aliena, and Philip attempting to build the cathedral while facing off against deadly opposition.
The story takes place in a starved and desperate time during the 12th century A.D., in a poverty-ridden England. The original book followed Philip in his inquiry into the death of one of his fellow brethren of the priesthood, while uncovering the conspiracy that led to his apparent suicide.
Machinations from around the countryside were put into place to undermine Philip’s goals of getting a new cathedral built, along with William Hamleigh rising to power and becoming a nemesis to the trio. You can check out the launch trailer for the second book below.
I wonder if they’ll keep all the mature subject matter from the original tale? Aliena may become a major player in the story but not before undergoing some serious trauma.
Nevertheless, the second book, called Sowing the Wind, is available to everyone who already purchased the original season pass from when the first book, From the Ashes, launched from back in August of this year.
The third book, Eye of the Storm, is due to release next year in the spring on in May.
The game is very story-heavy and could be considered as a Western take on the visual novel genre. However, it has closer ties to the likes of traditional point-and-click games despite being heavily oriented around the character narratives.
The art-style is simply superb, bringing a uniquely European-themed graphic novel look to Ken Follett’s story.
