New Blood Interactive announced that DUSK, the throwback retro-FPS game that pays homage to classics like Redneck Rampage, Quake I and Blood, has officially entered into Early Access on Steam.
The game is currently available for only $20 over on the Steam store.
The game is the brainchild of David Szymanski and features the music from Andrew Hulshult of IDKFA and Rise of the Triad fame. The game features a dark world filled with violence and
The Early Access rendition of the game features the first two episodes, which are filled with violence and malice. The full game will come packed with three fully featured episodes that takes players through the backwaters of the bayous, filled with cultists and psychos. Players will need to battle through the enemies to unravel a plot that involves a far more sinister force. Thankfully, this is all done through hardcore shooting mechanics and not lengthy 20 minute cinematic sequences.
Hardcore gamers looking for a hardcore experience will have some hardcore weapons at their disposal, including grenade launchers, shotguns, and saw blades. You can get a glimpse of what the gameplay is like with the Early Access trailer below.
Not only is the single-player campaign up and available to experience via Early Access, but the Duskworld multiplayer component is also currently available as well. So you can duke it out against other players in hopes of bringing back some quality, FPS-arena gameplay to help wipe away the inure players built up over time for all the piss-poor FPS clones that have flooded the market with their microtransaction-laden gameplay and feature-starved modes that recycle the same concepts and mechanics over and over again.
Now if you’re one of those people absolutely abhors Early Access but you still want to support the game, you can wait for the game to graduate from Early Access once the multiplayer is finalized and version 1.0 readies for public launch over the next few months, so expect the full version of DUSK to arrive just before summer.
