Insurgency: Sandstorm Gameplay Trailer Shows Off Close Quarters Combat

Focus Home Interactive and New World Interactive seek to bestow on gamers a “realistic” first-person shooter based on the acclaimed Insurgency game. Insurgency: Sandstorm has a new gameplay trailer out ahead of its release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Close followers of Insurgency will know that it’s a multi-million selling title by developers New World Interactive. Said developer teamed up with publisher Focus Home Interactive to design new features but also retain what made Insurgency great.

The team has built upon the original to make Insurgency: Sandstorm an  “FPS epic”. This new title will supposedly bring enhanced features and expand on other areas to make Sandstorm that much better.

The PvP is not showcased in the below video, but you can see what the CQC-like gameplay video has to offer via a teaser trailer.

Running on the Unreal Engine 4 this is said to take Sandstorm to a new level both visually and when it comes to playability. The new tools and engine are intended to bring extended gameplay possibilities, improved immersion, new co-op experiences, and competitive objective-based game modes.

According to the dev team, the aforesaid will be accompanied by the lethal tactical action that made Insurgency the worldwide phenomenon it is today.

As for what Sandstorm has to offer gamers is modern battlefields utilizing gameplay mechanics that blur the lines between “reality” and a shooter game.

Each weapon will be affected by unique ballistic calculations taking into account bullet-drop. Other functions such as choosing to drop magazines for faster reloads, carefully opening doors to keep quiet, or going guns blazing is just one of the many things you can do in Sandstorm.

Looking over to the PvP mode, you will be able to participate in “large-scale” battles with up to 16 Vs. 16 (32 players) skirmishes with artillery barrages, gunships, A-10 strikes, and 4×4 vehicle support.

In addition to the above, maps resembling realistic places with interiors to breach and PoI to control, Sandstorm rewards teamwork and objective-play over lone-wolf/personal success.
