Metal Gear Survive Producer Yuji Korekado Says There’s No Loot-Boxes

In an attempt to salvage what remains of the general public’s impressions of Metal Gear Survive, producer Yuji Korekado took up an interview with the Official PlayStation Magazine UK to let everyone know that Metal Gear Survive will not have any form of loot-boxes.

The damage of always on DRM for the single-player mode of Metal Gear Survive and that it sports microtransactions is just an addition to the abysmal marketing abomination that has plagued the game. Trying to damage control and ease the hemorrhaging that seems to have begun internally, Korekado warns gamers that loot-boxes and pay-2-win mechanics are no where to be found in Metal Gear Survive.

Thanks to publication site GameRant we learn from Korekado that…

“There will not be loot boxes and there will not be pay-to-win types of MTX [microtransations]. There will be things like the accessories in Metal Gear Online, and Forward Operating Base in The Phantom Pain.”

The above information can be traced back to an interview with the Official PlayStation Magazine UK. This can be found in the February 2018 Issue #145 that features Metal Gear series producer Yuji Korekado.

At this point, I don’t think that many gamers will feel relieved that the game is bereft of loot-boxes or pay-to-win mechanics, when the problem has been pointed out awhile ago. With Konami adding in DRM and microtransactions that stuff was like nails driven into the game’s coffin.

In addition to the above, Korekado’s words to the magazine are nothing more than leaving the dirt off the game’s casket at its grave site. In other words, I don’t think it really matters at this point if it has loot-boxes or not, the damage has been done.

Anyway, it’ll be interesting to see if Konami will pull a Nexon or Epic Games and blame Fortnite or PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds for any sales mishaps that will appear for Metal Gear Survive.

If you happen to be interested in this game and seek to buy it, Metal Gear Survive is set to launch for public consumption on February 20th across PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
