Abandon Ship, Nautical Exploration Game Enters Into Early Access On Steam

Fireblade Software announced that their alternate-history nautical adventure game, Abandon Ship has officially entered into Early Access on Steam for $19.99. During the first week of being on sale you can get the game for 15% off the normal price for only $16.99.

The game has a base campaign mode that’s available in the version available in Steam Early Access that stretches between eight and 10 hours worth of gameplay. Players will start with a ship, venture around the map and uncover more locations while hiring in a crew, escorting merchants, fighting off pirates, and discovering the secrets behind the Cult of Cthulhu.

Unlike most games out there, in Abandon Ship when your ship is destroyed and your crew is killed, so long as you can make it to land you can replenish your supplies, get your hands on another boat and begin again attempting to discover and learn and explore. You can get a small taste of what the game has to offer with the Early Access launch trailer below.

You’ll have a two tiered gameplay experience, with the world map offering you different places to travel and discover and the combat mode allowing you to put your crew to work and utilize different ammo types to take down your foes, not unlike Assassin’s Creed IV.

Along your journeys you can build relationships with factions, make enemies and allies throughout your discoveries of new regions, as well as battle against giant Cthulhu monsters.

Abandon Ship is scheduled to make its run through Early Access over the course of nine through 12 months.

Over the course of the next year they plan on adding more to the game’s world, including a larger map, more side-quests, and more ships, weapons and customization options.

According to the Early Access FAQ, they plan on putting their most time into the exploration aspects of Abandon Ship.
