Croatian developer Maxim Games announced that Klotzen! Panzer Battles is due for release this summer for PC. The game takes place during World War II across Europe and North Africa. The alternate history game takes a what if approach to the war and if Germany managed to defend Normandy and launch counter-invasions into the U.K., and U.S.A.
The goal of the game is to replay it and find new strategies in order to outwit and overcome your foes. The hex-based strategy game is designed to appeal to Panzer General fans, as well as offer plenty of army customization for each of the units you deploy onto the battlefield.
You’ll have more than just tanks and ground troops at your disposal, though. There will be aerial raids you’ll need to conduct in order to thin out the supplies of your enemies, along with digging out fortifications, laying down minefields, and cutting off supply routes and reinforcements by bombing bridges.
Klotzen! Panzer Battles has a full-on campaign mode in addition to an online PvP mode. You’ll have to fight through 60 different scenarios, you’ll have to defend Normandy in 1943, as well as fight off the Allied invasion in Spain, and even invade the U.K., and U.S.A.
Zoran Stanic, the lead developer of Maxim Games, commented about the upcoming title and the alternate take on World War II history, stating in the press release…
“We’re very excited to bring Klotzen! Panzer Battles to PC later this year. It’s a game where you can literally change the course of military history with ‘what-if’ based scenarios”
“We’re focusing on a feature set that delivers a realistic player experience, where aspects like unit customization, unit development and the way air and sea units can be utilized to bring something fresh to WW2 turn based strategy games”.
This seems to be a popular trend these days, portraying Germany as the good guys during World War II while defeating the Allied forces and winning the war. There’s another game called Project 1942 that also has a similar premise, only instead of being a turn-based strategy game you play as the actual troops and units, fighting off the Allies in an attempt to have Germany come out victorious during World War II.
