Let It Die Manages To Surpass 4 Million Downloads On PS4

The free-to-play, off the wall, hack-and-slash game, Let It Die, has managed to surpass 4 million downloads, according to a recent report from VentureBeat.

The game reached 1 million downloads in January of 2017, last year. Originally Let It Die released on the PS4 back at the beginning of December in 2016. So it managed a million downloads within the span of two months. It took the remainder of 2017 and the early first part of 2018 to hit 4 million downloads, which isn’t too bad.

The thing is, downloads is one thing but player engagement is another.

We’ve seen plenty of games have massive downloads but retaining your player base is a whole other story.

For instance, 2K Games and Turtle Rock Studios’ Evolve, which re-launched as a free-to-play title for and ended up racking up more than 6 million downloads, as noted by Steam Spy. However, if you check the Steam Charts, you’ll see that the game only averages just a bit under 300 players a day. So millions of downloads don’t necessarily equate to player engagement, or player retainment.

As for Let It Die, we have no idea what the engagement numbers look like, how many people are logging in each day, what the peak players are like on daily or monthly averages, and what the average number of hours are logged on a day-to-day or week-to-week basis. It’s all kept under wraps.

What we do know is that Kazuki Morishita, CEO of GungHo Online Entertainment, commented about the game hitting the 4 million download milestone, mentioning…

“I am overjoyed that we were able to achieve four million downloads since Let It Die’s release a year ago,” […] “Thank you to the fans for their continued support, and we will continue to produce more content so that Let It Die can be enjoyed for years to come.”

I suppose based on that statement there are enough people supporting the free-to-play action title to keep it alive for a while longer.

You can download Let It Die right now from the PlayStation Store for the PS4.
