Metal Gear Survive Extra Save Slots Costs $10

Gamers have recognized that Konami’s Metal Gear Survive is no Kojima outing, and gamers are quickly lamenting that fact.

The latest news to surface is that in order to purchase more save slots you’ll have to use in-game coins called “SV Coins” to extend your save slots. You can earn SV Coins every day by logging in or completing certain tasks. Alternatively, you can purchase extra save slots in Metal Gear Survive by purchasing SV Coins for real money. It requires 1,000 SV Coins for the save slot, and in order to purchase 1,000 SV Coins with real money, Sankaku Complex is reporting that it will run you $10 in real money to purchase the coins.

Keep in mind that the new save slot is so you can create a new avatar. Each new avatar works as a new save. So it’s Konami’s way of getting people to pay to replay the game. Say you want a female character and a male character, as well as an Asian character and a white character – well saving those slots will cost you money.

This isn’t too surprising given that Konami is basically trying to cash in on whatever is left of the Metal Gear legacy, either as a way to possibly get out of the AAA business or smear Kojima’s name.

It’s a real shame what’s happening at Konami, though, and the revelation of nickel and dime microtransactions isn’t going to go over too well with the general public, especially hardcore gamers who may have considered giving the game a test despite all the negative news and stigma surrounding the title.

Metal Gear Survive is currently available right now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. It’s receiving plenty of downvotes and negativity in the user review section for a myriad of reasons, some of which includes the aggressive microtransactions in the game.
