Alternative media journalist Tim Pool ended up on the bad side of YouTube’s community strike when he published a video criticizing the news reports about the Florida shooting at a high school in Parkland, where they incorrectly claimed that the shooter was part of a white nationalist organization. Pool’s video was hit with a strike and his account was restricted after some people believe it was a mass flagging by Pool’s detractors in order to get the video pulled offline.

Given some of YouTube’s latest efforts to censor videos that don’t fit within their ideological preferences, right now it’s difficult to tell if it was deliberate or censored in result of the machine learning AI that the company uses. Pool tweeted out that the video had been removed by YouTube and a strike had been applied to his account.

The relevant part of the community strike from YouTube states…

“As you may know, our Community Guidelines describe which content we allow – and don’t allow – on YouTube. Your video “Major Media Failure – Was The Florida Suspect Story a 4Chan Hoax?” was flagged for review. Upon review, we’ve determined that it violates our guidelines. We’ve removed it from YouTube and assigned a Community Guidelines strike, or temporary penalty, to your account.”

Pool reached out to YouTube and Google for clarification, but more than 14 hours after reaching out he did not receive a response about restoring the video or having the strike removed from his account.

You can view the 10 minute video for yourself to determine if there’s anything offensive that would warrant a community strike.

Some believe that ideological and interest groups with opposing views to Pool’s work attempted to mass flag the video in order to get it censored from YouTube.

Others believe that the language in the video quoting some of the context of the subcultures that led to the potential hoax being spread is what managed to get it flagged by YouTube.

In the recent past we’ve seen YouTube censoring and demonetizing certain videos that within their ideological standards, including a video criticizing SJWs for ruining gaming, and various PizzaGate videos.

PragerU sued Google back in October of 2017 for censoring their videos, claiming that YouTube was suppressing Conservative views.
