The Council’s First Episode Goes Live March 13th For PS4, Xbox One, PC

Focus Home Interactive and French game studio, Big Bad Wolf, announced that the first episode for The Council, entitled “The Mad Ones”, will go live for PC, PS4 and Xbox One gamers next week on March 13th.

The first episode explores the introduction into a clandestine society known as The Council. It features very powerful figures from around the globe, including Napelon Bonaparte, President George Washington, and various other notable historical figures, fictionalized for Big Bad Wolf’s game.

Players will delve into the secret society as Louis de Richet, who visit Lord Mortimer’s private island estate in order to uncover the mystery behind the disappearance of Richet’s mother.

The game is played like a lot of other classic point-and-click games, but it’s not a point-and-click game… not per se. You won’t go around picking up hair follicles and combining them with diced dates and a cufflink to create a makeshift fishhook in order to retrieve a piece of paper from inside a low-hanging chandelier in a bedroom. Instead, you’ll be talking with other NPCs and attempting to work your super seducer magic in order to socially veer them in the direction you need to fish from them the sort of information that will help you solve your mother’s mysterious disappearance.

The game centers itself around manipulation and confrontations. You’ll utilize Richet’s skill to and limited resources in order to achieve the outcome you seek from the NPCs to maneuver them in the way that you want; a little psychological 4D chess.

However, unlike many other games out there, you won’t have a constant save/load feature to fall back on as you talk to certain characters and explore certain confrontations. Every decision is final and will progress the story forward, for better or for worse.

One of the things that Big Bad Wolf wanted to avoid was game over screens. What they intended to do was make The Council more free-flowing and narrative oriented, so even if you “fail” at confronting a certain character, you’ll still be able to progress forward in the story.

The consequences – whether they be fortuitous or dire – are permanent, and will carry over into the next episode.

There will be five episodes in total, and you can look for the first episode to go live for Xbox One, PS4 and PC starting March 13th. For more info you can visit the game’s official website.
