Dragon Quest XI To Hit The West On September 4th For PC And PS4

Square Enix released Dragon Quest XI in Japan across 3DS and PS4 back in June of 2017, skip to now and the announcement for a Western release for PC and PS4 is now a thing. The JRPG is slated to launch on September 4th, 2018.

A Nintendo Switch version of Dragon Quest XI is in the works too, but no release date has been set yet. The Switch version is expected to launch sometime in 2019.

As for the 3DS version of Dragon Quest XI it will not come to the West, instead it will be replaced by the Switch. According to Square Enix, development on the Switch is a bit difficult, forcing said version to release at a much later date.

As for the PC and PS4 version of Dragon Quest XI, it will sport new features for folks in the West. In addition to delivering over 100 hours of content, this version of the game will also feature several upgrades and enhancements that were not included in the Japanese release.

The curious will find that the West will gain access to:

  • English voice-overs
  • Draconian Quest, a hard mode that offers additional challenges for more experienced players.
  • Overhauled menus and user interface, with graphical enhancements and more intuitive navigation.
  • Camera Mode, allowing players to take in views of the beautiful landscape, character renders and ferocious monsters in detail.
  • A new dash function and many other system enhancements such as improved character and camera movement.

Lastly, the PC version will land on Steam, which means that modders looking to change things up and insert their own vision will be able to do so after launch.
