Back in February of this year it was reported that Bandai Namco and Level-5’s Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom would not use Denuvo anti-tamper tech. Fast forward a month later and the game’s PC version has been confirmed to not use said tech.

A month ago it was reported on this very site that Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom would not use Denuvo anti-tamper tech courtesy of publication site DSOG.

Last month, DSOG picked up from Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom’s Steam store page the above information. Additionally, the site claimed in the past that the EULA and Steam page made no mention of the tech. DSOG later updated the community, writing….

“Bandai Namco has provided us with a review code and we can confirm that the review code does not use the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. Bandai Namco’s previous PC releases used that controversial anti-tamper tech and after what has happened with Final Fantasy XV, we cannot be 100% certain about the presence or not of Denuvo in the final game. Still, it would be disingenuous if Bandai Namco decides to stealthily use it in the final version (especially since the review code does not use it).”

This is later backed up by a Level-5 community manager who has confirmed that the RPG in question will not use Denuvo anti-tamper tech:

“Does the game have Denuvo? Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom does not have Denuvo.”

It’s worth noting that Bandai Namco has a decent track record of not pulling last-minute changes, such as putting Denuvo anti-tamper tech in a game after it releases for public consumption.

Moreover, the act of not having Denuvo active and looming around while the game is running is quite a surprise, especially when we take into account that Bandai Namco published some recent titles containing the DRM, like Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Lastly, the final build of the game on March 23rd could flaunt it, but the likelihood seems slim and it would cause quite a bit of noise if it did happen.
