Operation Warcade, Spiritual Successor To Operation Wolf Coming To PSVR In 2018
Operation Warcade

Perp Games and Ivanovich Games announced that the game-within-game arcade shooter called Operation Warcade is coming to the PlayStation 4 for the PlayStation VR headset during the second quarter of 2018.

The news went out recently where they announced that the game is designed to be a spiritual successor to the old arcade classic Operation Wolf. The hook for Operation Warcade is that it’s actually an arcade game set within a VR game. You play the title by going over to the arcade machine and choosing the operation and the mission. The game has levels set in Jafar, Rio de Janeiro, and on a naval carrier.

A minute long gameplay trailer was released to give you a small snippet of the gameplay in action, spanning some of the different levels and weapons you’ll be utilizing throughout the game.

As you can see, you’ll be dual-wielding a lot of different guns, blasting down structures with explosives, and firing off heavy artillery while occupying a helicopter.

One thing that actually stands out above all else are the enemies. It looks like in the desert campaign you’re fighting American soldiers.

In fact, up close it appears the enemies are clad in white and black and they have “SWAT” on their patch.

I’m not really sure why the player is in the middle east, killing white-clad SWAT members…?

I mean, wouldn’t the most logical enemies be ISIS, or ISIL, or the insurgents? Fighting American tactical law enforcement in another country is just bizarre. It also really took me out of the trailer seeing American military vehicles being blown up, when it would have made a heck of a lot more sense if players were fighting terrorists.

Anyway, Operation Warcade is currently available for the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive. You can pick up a digital copy from Steam or the Oculus Store. You can look for Operation Warcade to make its way to the PlayStation VR starting in the second quarter of 2018. For more info feel free to visit the official website.
