Pillars Of Eternity 2: Deadfire Set For Launch On May 8th For PC

Lots of games have been released today and plenty of games have been announced, or at least have had their release dates set in stone. One such game is Obsidian’s Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. The isometric RPG that hearkens back to the glory days of classic computer games like Baldur’s Gate, is due for release on May 8th for PC.

The game was originally supposed to be out a few weeks earlier, but Obsidian mentioned in the press release that they wanted to spend some extra time to polish the game up.

The new release date being pushed to May 8th will supposedly give the team a little extra room to iron out any of the wrinkles the game may have had during its initial release.

According to the press notice, Obsidian will be updating gamers with news about Pillars of Eternity II leading up to its release.

The game is also scheduled to release on the home consoles, but they’re not expected to receive the game until the fourth quarter of 2018.

The original game came out back in 2015. The first Pillars of Eternity ran into some troubles when some easily offended activists encountered a limerick from one of the original backers. The limerick was used as an obituary for a character about how he had a drunken night out and mistakenly slept with a dude dressed up as a chick. When the character found out about it, he committed suicide.

Activists claimed that the joke was transphobic and commanded Obsidian to change it, so they did.

So far there has yet to be any outrage bait centering around the release of Pillars of Eternity II. The game was crowdfunded through Fig back in early 2017, and will take everything that was accomplished with the first game and expand upon it, including scripted naval battles at sea.
