Sargon Of Akkad’s Google Account Disabled While Google Claims YouTube Purging Was Mistake

It’s being reported that Carl Benjamin, better known as Sargon of Akkad, has been locked out of his Google account, meaning that he can’t access his YouTube channel. He made the post on his Facebook page on March 1st, 2018.

Journalist Nick Monroe informed Twitter about it since Sargon of Akkad’s Twitter account has been permanently suspended.

In a brief comment to Big League Politics, Sargon of Akkad recapitulated the event and why it may have happened, saying…

“I think it’s because extremists on the right pose no actual threat to the extremists on the left, whereas centrist classical liberal ideas really do. When it comes to the left’s racial collectivism and animus against white people, a fair-minded individualist anti-racist mindset is infinitely more preferable.”

Sargon of Akkad’s YouTube channel is still standing, but he hasn’t updated it in the last four days given that he’s locked out of his account even though he has no strikes against the account. At least Sargon still has his account.

Bloomberg is reporting that a number of Conservative media outlets and pro-gun channels on YouTube were wiped out in a censorship purge to lessen the appeal of pro-gun ownership media on the video platform.

A YouTube spokesperson told Bloomberg that the mass-censorship was a mistake given that they actually had human content moderators to monitor, restrict and remove “extreme” content from YouTube recently, which resulted in a bunch of Conservative and pro-gun channels being purged…

“”As we work to hire rapidly and ramp up our policy enforcement teams throughout 2018, newer members may misapply some of our policies resulting in mistaken removals. We’re continuing to enforce our existing policies regarding harmful and dangerous content, they have not changed. We’ll reinstate any videos that were removed in error.”

Google hasn’t stated if the account restrictions applied against Sargon was also a mistake or not, but it’s no surprise that anyone who holds views against what many claim to be the Regressive Left would come under fire from Google’s moderation team.

The Outline is reporting that many of the channels removed weren’t huge influencers, but were mid-tier channels. However, one of the targets was conspiracy channel InfoWars, which received two strikes during Google’s crackdown on “harmful” content.

This isn’t the first time that Google has claimed it’s made a mistake in mass-purging content from its network. Earlier this year during January, Google claimed it mistakenly mass-purged certain websites from its GNews syndication section due to a bug in the new AI machine-learning algorithm.

After various webmasters contacted Google about it and the news started gaining traction on social media, they restored the sites to the GNews feeds.

[Update:] Sargon of Akkad posted up a video stating that his channel has been restored and he believes it may have been due to an issue that happened a while ago during a live-stream with another content creator named Destiny.
