Spellsworn Graduates From Early Access And Goes Free-To-Play On Steam

Frogsong Studios announced that the multiplayer PvP game, Spellsworn, has officially completed its Early Access run and has launched in full on Steam as a free-to-play title.

Frogsong’s title pits wizards against each other in a variety of hazard-ridden arenas. There’s a variety of different wizards to take control of, and plenty of items in which to customize your wizard with. According to Stefan Jonsson, the CEO of Frogsong Studios, the game is based on a custom mod for Warcraft 3, but expanded into its own game to carve out a small niche in the PvP sector…

“We drew inspiration from the WarCraft 3 custom mod, Warlocks, taking the fighting element of the game and building the whole Spellsworn experience around it. It will appeal to those players who like quick skill-based fighting matches without the hassle of managing the economic side of the game. So jump into the Spellsworn arena and brawl away!”

You can check out the gameplay trailer below to see what the bouts are like and how the game is played via the isometric viewpoint.

To accompany the launch of the game the developers added all new spells and 10 brand new cosmetic items. The launch is also seeing a special 2x drop rate for certain loot.

For players who acquire the Collector’s Edition there are two additional legendary skills and two legendary staffs, while everyone who supported the game throughout Early Access will receive both the Collector’s Edition items and the Founder’s Edition items.

The real challenge of Spellsworn isn’t just that you acquire a bunch of spells and duke it out against other players, it’s that you have a limited pool of resources to spend on spells, and you must select the proper spells for each match depending on your foe.

You can either do one-on-one bouts or take on up to seven other players. Alternatively, there are team modes available for those who like doing tag-team matches.

If you were interested in a spell-slinging, PvP, free-to-play game, you can dive in right now by grabbing the client from over on the Steam store page.
