Ubisoft New Mumbia Studio Will Focus On AA Games

Ubisoft has posted up that it will expand into India and Ukraine with its new Mumbai and Odesa studio. The former studio is said by the company to focus on AA games, while the latter will help with existing series under Ubisoft’s belt.

Just today, Ubisoft posted on news.ubisoft.com that development resource will expand outward through the two studios. These studios happen to be stationed in Mumbai, India, and in Odesa, Ukraine.

The Mumbai studio will join Ubisoft’s existing development house in Pune. Additionally, the Mumbai division will relay information to Pune studio MD Jean-Philippe Pieuchot, which the studio will work on supporting titles and franchises like Far Cry and South Park.

As for Odesa, which is said to be open for business, it will be the second Ukrainian studio and will join the ten-year-old Ubisoft Kiev.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, Pieuchot said that the company was interested in Mumbai due to its “unique talent pool” and “large population.” The publication site recorded Pieuchot saying:

“Mumbai will focus on AA development, and leverage our expertise in live operations and games as a service.”

Pieuchot continued and expressed:

“Our ambition is to contribute towards the development of the Indian videogame ecosystem by partnering closely with top schools and institutions.”

Ubisoft is said to be in search of up to 100 hires of “talented developers” within the next two years, and will partner with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) to research/focus on machine learning and AI algorithms.

Looking over to the second studio based in Odesa, Ukraine, it is meant to boost the firm’s efforts in Eastern Europe. Ten employees are currently there, however plans to hire 60 more people are underway.

In addition to the above, Adrian Serbanescu, Studio Manager of the Kiev studio, will manage the new Odesa office. This side of the company will focus on Ghost Recon and help Ubisoft with said series.
