Cologne, F-Zero Inspired Racer Makes Its Way Onto Window Store

Polish development outfit, Nhneno Games, has announced that Cologne has been updated on Steam and that the game is also currently available for purchase for $9.99 over on the Windows Store.

I’m not entirely sure who would be remotely excited to buy anything from the Windows Store, but it’s available for those of you who somehow don’t like Steam but are okay with Windows 10 and the Windows Store.

In addition to launching on the Windows Store, the developers also informed the community that the Steam version of the game has also been updated with some tweaks and content improvements, giving gamers a reason to dive back into the title since its release in January earlier this year.

The game features three different racing districts and 28 different tracks, along with vehicular customization and upgrades for the riders. You can check out a gameplay trailer below to give you an idea of what Cologne is like.

19-year-old developer, Piotr Mlynarczyk, explained that it was inspiration from many of the classic console racing games along with some real-life British architecture that helped formulate the foundation for Cologne’s design, mentioning in the press release…

“The Millennium Bridge in London was the original inspiration for Cologne. It already looks like a futuristic racing track! I’m a huge fan of science fiction and racing games. With my love for Wipeout and F-Zero, I just had to create a futuristic racing game of my own. That game is Cologne.”

The game takes place across a series of foreign outer-world locations where the tracks are composed of tubes. As evident in the gameplay trailer above, the racing is very similar to F-Zero GX‘s campaign mode and the track design and concept from Chaos Ride.

You can customize your rider with interchangeable head displays and racing suits, as well as battle it out in racing challenges against the AI or real life players through online multiplayer modes.

You can check the game out now on the Windows Store or grab a copy for $9.99 from the Steam store.
