Darwin Project Is Now Free-To-Play As Steam Early Access Title

Canadian developers, Scavengers Studio, announced that their online PvP survival game, Darwin Project, is currently available as a free-to-play title in Early Access on Steam.

You can download the game right now from over on the Steam store page.

The game requires around 6GB of free space and at least a GTX 750 and 4Gb of RAM to run.

The game features a manhunt survival mode, where you must scavenge for supplies, attempt to stay warm, and avoid freezing to death, all while hunting down other players and seeking them out to destroy them.

Set in the Canadian Rockies, players will need to be careful and cautious of both their surroundings and of other players seeking to destroy them. Temporary alliances might help in the short term, but the last man standing is the name of the game.

You can see what the gameplay is like with the preview video below from Ingeniusclown Gaming.

The game features 10 participants fighting to the death in the freezing cold arena,, while utilizing whatever weapons they can get their hands on to get the job done.

Different character classes have different abilities, and there’s also the ability for someone to take on the role of a show director, being able to provide commentary and change the outcome of the match by activating arena conditions such as weather storms or dropping nuclear bombs or zoning off certain areas during a match.

Other players can also join in on the fun by making suggestions to the show director through the live spectator feature, which is designed to appeal to the Twitch streaming audience.

I don’t know how well Darwin Project will survive in a Fortnite-controlled gaming market, but they seem to have made the game go free-to-play rather quickly. With all the other Battle Royale games out there, fighting for survival in today’s marketplace won’t be easy.
