The Equalizer 2 Trailer Has Denzel Channeling Steven Seagal’s Bone-Breaking Antics

The second Equalizer is coming. I didn’t think the first movie was material enough to squeeze a sequel out of it, but Hollywood loves money about as much as game journalists love raping women… almost as much.

With that being said, the new trailer for the Denzel Washington-fronted Equalizer 2 dropped, featuring Denzel breaking lots of bones, twisting limbs in directions that only riggers working with 3D kinematics are used to seeing, and putting more puncture holes in bodies than the fireworks put holes in an SUV that a 14-year-old stole from his parents.

You can check out the clip below from Movieclips Trailers, which clocks in at two and a half minutes.

So first of all, the trailer manages to setup the plot and put things in motion without actually spoiling the entire movie. However, I think most people will definitely get the gist of just about all the action beats present in the film.

It sees Denzel Washington helping people out here and there using his black ops skills he picked up from the CIA, being a calm, collected, nearly emotionless killer.

One of his former handlers and longtime friend is brutally murdered, along with other former operatives, which leads Denzel on a quest to mimic Rorschach from The Watchmen, as he deduces the potential killers behind the execution plot and begins taking out everyone involved.

It’s basically if Jason Bourne turned into The Punisher… and if both went through a race swap due to Hollywood’s diversity agenda. In a world that isn’t overtly politically correct, someone like Clive Owen would have been the star of The Equalizer, but I guess you can’t win ’em all.

Anyway, the film isn’t rated yet, but the trailer alone is filled with way too much blood, gore, and Steven Seagal-style bone breaking to be anything other than an ‘R’.

In fact, for a minute I thought I was watching a flick from the late 1980’s, when ultra-violence wasn’t outlawed by the over-sensitive Liberals and morally-burdensome Conservatives. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s a little taste of what Seagal used to bring to the table before Hollywood wimped out.

Anyway, you can look for The Equalizer 2 starring Denzel Washington to launch this July.
