Aksys Games announced that Yasuhiro Wada’s Little Dragons Cafe is set to be made available for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch as a digital download via the Nintendo eShop and the PlayStation Store, and as a physical release from participating retailers starting August 24th, 2018 for $59.99.

The game centers around a brother and sister whose mother falls into a deep coma. The duo are informed by a local wizard that in order to save their mother they must raise a dragon. While raising the dragon the siblings also have to maintain their mother’s cafe.

The game utilizes a sketchbook filter that gives the game a colored-pencil look. You can see what the gameplay is like with the trailer below.

Wada attempts to revive the Harvest Moon-style of gameplay, but centered around running and maintaining a cafe. Putting together meals and servicing patrons involves utilizing a mini-game where you have to input the keys in the right order to complete the order.

You’ll be able to play as either the brother or sister, and while you carry out tasks in the cafe, you’ll also need to harvest goods and acquire ingredients from outside the cafe. This opens up a second part of the game where players will venture around a sandbox environment where they attempt to find ingredients, work with the baby dragon to acquire items and raise the dragon, as well as grow the dragno so that he eventually grows up and you can ride on him to discover new biomes.

In a way the game reminds me a little bit of Spyro The Dragon meets Oceanhorn.

I especially like the ending of the trailer, which seems to showcase just how much freedom will be available to players once they begin leveling up their dragon. I do wonder if there will be some elements of combat or if it’s strictly going to stick with exploration as the main focal point of gameplay?
