Son Of A Witch, Co-op Brawler Graduates From Early Access On May 16th

Bigosaur announced that after three years of development in Early Access, their side-scrolling, cooperative brawling game, Son of a Witch will finally graduate from Early Access on May 16th.

The game sees one through four players teaming up in a cooperative adventure through a variety of procedurally generated maps where they must acquire weapons, magic items, potions, and spells to defeat seven enemy factions and 24 massive bosses spanning a number of different unique locations.

Obviously the game is paying a huge homage to The Behemoth’s Castle Crashers. The cutesy art-style and eight-direction movement system with the hack-and-slash and fire-and-strafe combat mechanics will see a lot of fans of Castle Crashers feeling right at home with Son of a Witch.

You can check out the gameplay trailer for the game below, which aims to get gamers all geeked up for the May 16th release.

Now unlike Castle Crashers there’s a much heavier focus on projectile-based combat in Son of a Witch. You’ll be able to mix-and-match your attacks with a variety of magical spells to help weaken your foes.

As you complete quests you’ll also be able to unlock additional playable characters, along with having acquiring up to 26 different pet companions to aid you during your quests. There are seven different starting heroes with additional characters you can unlock along the way, along with additional lootable gear.

You will have to be careful during your adventures, though, because the game features permadeath. This means you’ll have to work together and fight hard to avoid getting squashed during battle and losing all your gear.

You can play Son of a Witch solo or you can team up with three other friends in local co-op or online co-op. You can pick up a digital copy of Son of a Witch right now in Early Access for $19.99 from the Steam store or you can wait until May 16th to grab a copy of the game when it graduates from Early Access.
