Star Wars Battlefront 2 Microtransactions To Return On April 18th

EA and DICE are looking to ship out another event for Star Wars Battlefront 2 players, which sees Imperial forces fighting the natives of Endor, Ewoks, in a battle for supremacy. However, the return of microtransactions will be coming along with the event on April 18th across PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Depending on who you speak to among Star Wars Battlefront 2 fans you will receive a different answer from them about microtransactions. Some members of the community are outright against the whole notion, while some are for it, while, on another hand, you have some people indifferent to it all.

Well, it looks like folks will see the return of microtransactions or MTX, but the service functions differently from its past iteration. The following information explaining how this has come to be can be traced back to ea.com, explaining that…

“Our April update isn’t just about Ewok Hunt. As part of this month’s release, Crystals will return to Star Wars Battlefront II as one of the ways for fans to unlock Appearances, including Endor Leia and Endor Han. Real-world currency can only be used to purchase Crystals, which are only redeemable for Appearances (learn more about Crystals in our FAQ). Credits are earned through in-game activity and can be redeemed toward Appearances, as well. Over 50 additional Appearances to personalize your units will be made available in this update (learn more about Appearances and rarities, and get even more details on this update, in our Community Transmission).”

In a Q&A-like post on the Star Wars Battlefront 2 Progression Update FAQ page, a list of what can and can’t be done with this updated version is thoroughly explained by SledgeHammer70.

Firstly, Players will only be able to purchase Crystals as microtransactions, which can only be used to unlock available appearances that a player can select. Players cannot use crystals to purchase Star Cards or items affecting gameplay or progression.

Furthermore, all Star Cards from crates cannot be purchased with real world money. Instead, the team will be introducing a system where you level up your units exclusively by playing as them and earning experience.

In other words, MTX in the new Star Wars Battlefront 2 system sees cosmetics being the only thing you can spend real world money on via Crystals.

The real question behind all of this is, will EA and DICE keep their word and sport an actual cosmetic service system or will they try to take advantage of players and newcomers with an unfair catch?
