Wild West Online, Shady New MMO Launches On Steam May 10th

WWO Partners announced that Wild West Online will graduate from its limited paid beta and will go live in full on Steam starting May 10th. The game currently doesn’t have a Steam store page, but the developers promise that a Steam key will be available upon release. There’s also no final pricing on the game other than what’s available on the homepage.

Wild West Online is basically supposed to be like a PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2, but everything about this game is shady as crap. Trying to get details on the game’s developers and who is publishing the title, where the financing is coming from, or who is leading the project is all super shady. In fact, there’s no about page on the official website, and no team info whatsoever. Everything is done in a super secretive, clandestine manner.

If that doesn’t raise red flags I honestly don’t know what will.

If you’re still interested in Wild West Online, the game will feature open-world, sandbox exploration, territory capture, resource gathering, PvP combat, PvE missions, NPC quests, robberies, gun fights, and showdowns. You can see what the gameplay is like with a gameplay preview from YouTuber The Outer Middle Show.

The gameplay in the video is not that great. The animations are stilted, the world seems barren, and the interactions are pretty sparse.

What’s more is that the press release almost skips over the actual gameplay mechanics, and only briefly talks about rival factions, PvP events, and a variety of survival activities. The press release also generally skims over the fact that more content will be added to the game world, including “new content”, but they don’t say what kind.

The launch trailer is also super generic, only mentioning that new factions, social hubs and customization features will be available in the full thing.

Now the one thing that the press release spends time doing is listing what they’ll be selling and what you can buy. They’ll have 10 cosmetic bags available for $20, 10 gun skins available for $20, and 48 hours of early-early access to those who purchase the early access version of the game. I’m not even kidding, if you buy the early access version of the game you’ll gain access to early-early access on Steam.

Anyway, Wild West Online is due for release on May 10th. You can pre-purchase the game at different price points starting at $29.99 and going all the way up to $89.99. You can only barely learn more by visiting the official website.
