Fast Travel Games announced that a free demo for Apex Construct is currently available for PS4 owners who have a PlayStation VR headset. The demo will be located on the U.S., U.K., and Australian PlayStation Store.

The demo clocks in at just 1.32GB and you can grab the demo right now for free from the PlayStation Store.

The demo drops players into the very start of Apex Construct, which centers around a post-cataclysmic event that has taken place on Earth, where two opposing AI are vying for control called “Fathr” and “Mothr”.

Once you touch down on the planet you’ll need to explore the environment, acquire a bow and shield and attempt to fight off synthetic combat droids.

The demo will only give players a small glimpse into the gameplay of Apex Construct, which will feature stealth segments, physics-based puzzles to solve, and plenty of combat encounters along the way. You can check out the trailer below to get an idea of what the gameplay is like.

Visually it reminds me so much of Half-Life 2. The robot designs and the modernized world with a touch of futurism seems so very similar to the kind of world that Valve envisioned with their own first-person shooter.

The scope of Apex Construct will follow a story where players will attempt to discover what drove the rift between the two artificial intelligence systems, as well as uncovering how the world ended up in the way that it did.

If you’re not a big fan of digital distribution, however, you will also be able to pick up a copy of Apex Construct when it inevitably arrives at retail shelves starting on June 8th next month in the E.U., followed by a release in July for U.S., gamers. The physical release will be available for $29.99.

You can learn more about Apex Construct by paying a visit to the official website, or if you already own a PlayStation VR headset, you can grab the free demo from the PlayStation Store.
