H1Z1: Battle Royale Open Beta Free Download Available For PS4

PlayStation 4 gamers who just can’t get enough Battle Royale gaming and need something a little more grounded in a realistic take on the zombie apocalypse, opposite of Epic Games’ cartoony and casual Fortnite, you might want to try out Daybreak Game Copmany’s H1Z1: Battle Royale, which is currently available for download on the PS4.

You can download the H1Z1: Battle Royale open beta right now from the PlayStation Store.

The beta clocks in at 9.37 gigabyte, meaning you’ll need to spare about 10GB with of room on your hard drive just to be safe.

The beta is free to download, so you can just add it to your basket and have it install on your home console. If you have the PS4 in sleep mode you can actually remotely install the game by logging into the PlayStation Store with your PSN account and after checking out have the game install onto your PS4. This way when you get home you’ll be able to play it when it’s ripe and ready instead of having to wait for it to download.

In preparation for the Battle Royale going live as a free-to-play mode on PS4, H1Z1 producer Terrence Yee offered gamers 11 tips on how to dominate in the mode via a post on the PlayStation Blog.

Just like every other Battle Royale game out there, the H1Z1: Battle Royale open beta features 100 players parachuting down into the game world and killing each other off until only one remains… sort of like Highlander but without the cool sword fights.

In order to keep the action moving along, there is a surrounding toxic gas encroaching on the play area that consistently shrinks until players are forced into a small area of the map.

The mode starts with level-1 weapons such as the AR-15 and AK-47 but as the match progresses level 2 and level 3 weapons will come into the arena via airdrops.

Additionally, you’ll want to scavenge for higher level backpacks, which will grant you more weapon slots. More weapon slots mean holding more weapons, which means dishing out more damage.

You can grab a free copy of the H1Z1: Battle Royale right now for the PS4 from the PlayStation Store. Alternatively, there’s a version of the game imitating the undead behavior of a zombie over on the Steam store, which is also free-to-play.
