Nightdive Shares System Shock Remake Update And Progress

Nightdive Studios will eventually ship System Shock Remake for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The latest update on System Shock Remake confirms said platforms, reveals a Virus Mutant, more environments, stream times and more.

Over on kickstarter.com, Nightdive Studios released the 44th update post on System Shock Remake, which touches on progress made so far. For starters, Jonathan H. has joined the dev team and has cranked out more props and assets for the Medical Deck.

Puzzles are going through rapid change so the devs can randomly generate their complexity based on the difficulty level selected at the start of the game.

The UI or interface and interactions are said to be coming together quickly. The act of picking up and moving items in the inventory section is now a thing.

Moreover, the devs are on schedule with their goal of having the game playable from start to finish. The thing is, though, it will be playable without weapons and enemies by September 2018.

You can read the aforesaid thanks to Nightdive Studios’ developer Stephen K., as posted below:

“We’d like to welcome Jonathan H. (Synaesthesia on Discord) to the team! Jonathan’s been cranking out props and assets for the Medical Deck. On the programming side the puzzles are going through rapid iteration so we can randomly generate their difficulty based on the difficulty level you’ve chosen at the start of the game. The interface/interactions are coming together quickly and you can now pick up and move items in your inventory. All other base interactions and usable inventory items have been proxied out and will be placed in the levels that are being blocked out. We’re on schedule with our goal of having the game being playable from start to finish (sans Weapons & Enemies) by September.”

The update post also relays that Chris M. has been working on modeling environment assets and building out the Medical deck, Stephen K. is working on converting the hi-res Humanoid Mutant character into the Virus Mutant, and that Daniel G. blocked out and annotated almost the entirety of Level 7 — Systems Engineering.

The following images are in order of the Medical deck, the conversion of the hi-res Humanoid Mutant character into the Virus Mutant, the blocked out entirety of Level 7, which is then followed by new screenshots and concept art:

Folks curious about progress on Cyberspace in System Shock Remake will find an answer right here thanks to the Q&A about it:

Q: What is the plan for Cyberspace?

A: We’ve worked on a few concepts throughout development and haven’t settled on anything quite yet. We currently have a two person team working specifically on Cyberspace and will hopefully have something to share soon. We feel like it’s such an important part of System Shock’s identity that we want to make sure it provides a jaw-dropping reaction the first time it’s experienced.

On the topic of Q&As, it’s unclear if the devs are hinting at a Switch port in the following blockquote or what? Nevertheless, you can read the question and answer regarding System Shock Remake and the platforms it will be heading to below:

Q: With the refocus/change in direction, will the game still be coming to Linux, Mac, PS4, and XBOX One?

A: Absolutely. Nightdive is now an authorized developer for both PlayStation and Xbox and with the refocus on style and scope we will also be able to port the game to another very popular platform.

Furthermore, the developers will be streaming System Shock Remake, but if you missed the last streams you can catch them all on Nightdive Studios YouTube channel. Future streams can be found on twitch.tv, which both date and times are listed right here:
