Robin Hood Reboot Seems To Borrow From Green Arrow And Assassin’s Creed
Robin Hood (2018)

Summit Entertainment and Lionsgate seem to be on a role lately trying to tap the dark and gritty market. This time around they figured that a younger, hipper, grittier take on Robin Hood was in order, starring Taron Egerton from Kingsman and Jamie Dornan from 50 Shades of Grey.

A teaser trailer for the upcoming film recently rolled out, depicting a completely re-envisioning of the classic tale, this time with high-fashion and Assassin’s Creed-inspired action sequences playing front center for the story. You can check out the video below courtesy of Movieclips Trailers.

It’s impossible to miss the Assassin’s Creed style action sequences, from Robin Hood making daring escapes by leaping from tall surfaces, to utilizing rapid-fire arrow shooting techniques to take down heavily armored guards – the influences are quite obvious.

What’s more is that the token black character role is fulfilled by none other than Jamie Foxx. Foxx works as the trainer and handler for Robin Hood, helping him stick to the shadows and utilize the bow like Oliver Queen from CW’s Arrow.

Robin Hood - Arrow Shooting

The only twist to the film is spoiled in the first trailer where they reveal that Egerton is Robin Hood, even though he’s a prince who seems to be hunting Robin Hood down. It would have been a good twist for the film to leave viewers guessing who was actually behind the hood had they not actually spoiled it in the trailer.

Anyway, the film looks like typical Hollywood schlock with a modern enough twist on it to lure in the teeny boppers and kiddies. Also, expect more of the multicutural Liberal agenda to pop up in the film, which has become a staple in just about every Hollywood film these days in order for films to be “inclusive”. Who knows, maybe Jamie Foxx’s character is gay?

Anyway, the film is due out on November 21st, 2018 near the end of the year.
