If you’re an anti-SJW, if you’re a gamer who doesn’t adhere to bending to the will of propaganda, and if you’re not okay with the current media trend of promoting cultural cuckolding, then you’re not welcome at VG 24/7.
The site made it clear in an article posted on May 24th, 2018 that they no longer want critical-thinking readers on their site, nor do they want anyone visiting their pages who are not lock, step, and in-sync with the current Social Justice Warrior agenda. Specifically, gamers who have rejected DICE’s SJW-themed Battlefield V are not welcome at VG 24/7.
Matt Martin made a very simple post, writing…
“If you’re one of those people who has a problem with Battlefield 5 featuring women, blue facepaint and prosthetics, you’re not the type of person we want reading our website.
“Don’t give us that “historically accurate” crap either. You can’t hide your small-minded misogyny behind it.
“You’re an embarrassment. Go elsewhere.”
Their own community did not take kindly to being told to effectively sit down and shut up.
Many gamers are quite livid at DICE for ruining the Battlefield franchise by throwing historical accuracy clean out the window with Battlefield V, which was depicted in its debut trailer as a fast-paced, arcade fantasy-shooter instead of being the tactical war game that gamers have become accustomed to over the last decade.
In fact, gamers have begun trending #NotMyBattlefield in order to get the point across that they do not support culturally appropriating history in order to push feminist propaganda through the first-person shooter.
The debut trailer for the game also managed to garner massive amounts of downvotes from the general YouTube audience, and sparked lots of disgust from the Battlefield internet communities.
Even more than that, many gamers have pointed out that Activision and Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: WW2 was portrayed with more historical accuracy than Battlefield V, and keep in mind that Call of Duty: WW2 featured black, female Nazis!
Martin rounded out the piece by writing…
“Arguing on the internet about videogames is never a good look.”
This is ironic since Martin was angered that people were angry about Battlefield V’s historical revisionism and war-time fantasy depictions. It’s even sillier since he seems to be positioning the article as a protest against gamer’s protest. It takes a certain level of pettiness to protest someone’s protest.
This kind of behavior from VG 24/7 staff is absolutely nothing new, however.
Back when Diablo III first came out in 2012, the launch was riddled with connectivity issues due to the always-on DRM. Some of you may remember Patrick Garrett’s condescending article published on May 16th, 2012, decrying the backlash Blizzard received for a game that didn’t allow people to play alone, in single-player, offline. He wrote…
“The backlash is tedious this time. Anyone who’s been playing online games for any length of time will know that the first few days of any popular release are going to be patchy. […]
“[…] Shut up. Seriously, stop whining. Making this stuff work for a rush of millions is verging on rocket science. It happens for pretty much every major online game – including Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 – and you should be used to it by now. Just be patient and let Blizzard fix it. Save your bile for something that actually matters, like the fact you have little chance of achieving your life goals because you can’t stop playing computer games.”
It was actually months before the servers stabilized to the point where people could effectively play it on their own terms.
VG 24/7 is essentially another large scale, Google-promoted platform that adheres to following the media’s protocol of protecting giant mega-corporations like Electronic Arts, Activision-Blizzard, and other anti-consumer corporations from plebeian criticism.
Heck, VG 24/7 was one of the sites that participated in the “Gamers are Dead” narrative back in 2014. So it should come as no surprise that they continue to maintain the status quo with a pro-corporate, anti-consumer stance.
Instead of acknowledging the concerns of the fans and opening a dialogue with them, VG 24/7 is willing to part ways with anyone who isn’t willing to become a disciple of the SocJus narrative.
While other media institutions have continued to weasel-word their way around the conundrum of trying to inculcate their agenda into their audience without coming out saying that they despise their own readers, VG 24/7 didn’t hesitate to call a spade a spade.
One must wonder how many gamers will maintain the Stockholm Syndrome and continue to support outlest that don’t want them as readers, but want them as informational slaves? When will gamers finally relieve themselves of the battered-wife syndrome and leave behind these abusive, manipulative, propaganda-driven outlets who openly hate them? One can only hope the answer is a resounding “soon”.
