Xbox Games With Gold For June Includes Purely Mediocre Games

Microsoft seems to be slagging off on the Games With Gold offerings heading into the summer months. The Games With Gold line-up for Xbox 360 and Xbox One gamers was recently revealed, and they’re not the sort of games that will have you throwing a lot of bandwidth at the Microsoft Store.

Over on the official Xbox News site, they revealed that the four titles include Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia, Smite, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues.

The full roll out is listed below:

  • Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia ($9.99 ERP): Available June 1 to June 30 on Xbox One
  • Smite Gold Bundle ($99.99 ERP): Available June 16 to July 15 on Xbox One
  • Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed ($29.99 ERP): Available June 1 to June 15 on Xbox One and Xbox 360
  • LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues ($19.99 ERP): Available June 16 to June 30 on Xbox One and Xbox 360

Even with the Smite bundle being worth $99, it doesn’t change the game from being purely mediocre.

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia was okay, letting you play as a real man who could wield a gun, beat the crap out of Templars, and save a princess in the process. It’s a classic masculine 2.5D side-scrolling stealth platformer. Obviously, not everyone will be geeked about a Ubisoft game, so even with the high-points of it featuring a worthwhile protagonist, you’ll still have to wake up every morning and look at yourself in the mirror knowing that you have a Ubisoft game on your hard drive.

Now Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is a fantastic game. I’ve dumped hundreds of hours into the recent Sonic racing games. They’re a great bundle of fun and offer a nice skill-based alternative to the more casual racing featured in games like Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8. Out of all the games, this is definitely the one worth downloading the most.

Last and least is LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues. Now just because LEGO managed to make a game that raped the Indiana Jones legacy less than Indiana Jones And The Crystal Skull, it doesn’t mean that it automatically makes it a good product. In fact, if you’ve played one of the several dozen other LEGO [Insert property name here] then you already know what you’re getting with LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues; unless, of course, you just enjoy filling up your limited hard drive space with clones.

You can look for the Games With Gold to go live for Xbox Live gamers starting June 1st, 2018 for Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 owners.
