You can currently pre-purchase Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner Mars right now for $29.99. The re-release of the PlayStation 2 classic has its Steam store page live and available, featuring details on the game along with a trailer.
The game isn’t just a typical remaster, however. Cygames is actually taking some time out to actually add things to the game. Yes, add things. For instance, the game now supports PCs that can output at 4K resolutions, and the PC version of the game will have built-in support for virtual reality headsets, including the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and the Windows Mixed Reality headsets.
Both the PC and the PlayStation 4 versions will support single-player and multiplayer content, including online and local multiplayer support.
The only thing you should keep in mind with the PC version is that over on the Steam page it mentions that there is only partial controller support. Given how Konami has been unreliable when it comes to content control, there’s really no telling if proper controller support will be available for all USB supported controllers. It also makes you wonder if it will have proper VR motion support as well?
They also don’t verify if PlayStation VR headset owners will be able to take advantage of the VR features as well, or if it will be limited and exclusive to PC gamers.
It’s also odd that they would allow people to pre-purchase a game three months ahead of its release. Nevertheless, you can look for Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner Mars to go live for PC and PS4 on September 4th, 2018. And no, Xbox One gamers will not be getting their hands on this title for whatever reason.
