Frostpunk Survival Mode Update 1.1.0 Is Now Available For Free

If you already own a copy of Frostpunk for PC and have been toiling away with twiddling your thumbs, waiting for a fresh new update to drop, you’re probably excited to hear that the 1.1.0 update has arrived and it brings with it the highly anticipated Survival Mode. The best part about it is that it’s a free update for everyone who already owns the game, giving you even more replayability right out of the digital box without having to pay an arm and a leg for the new difficulty mode.

So what does Survival Mode bring to the table? Well, according to 11 Bit Studios, it offers an all new challenge in the form of not being able to pause the game during active in-game play, other than when you open the options menu. Also, you can’t save your game unless you exit. So this means that all your decisions, every step of the way, are final.

As pointed out in the 1.1.0 developer update video, they’ve also included all new achievements specifically for the Survivor Mode and an all new Ansel SDK integration for panoramic 360 degree screen captures.

For the non-Survivor Modes, you’ll be able to quick save and quick load your games using F5 and F9, respectively. And they’ve opted to make some changes to the overall gameplay balance and playability.

Over on the official website for Frostpunk, the changelog outlines how you can now more easily connect constructed streets, as well as your starting resources being rebalanced for the Refugees and the Ark scenarios.

Some of the pickable resources have had their extraction rates modified, as well as the precision of gathered Steam Cores.

New binding options have been implemented for the keyboard shortcuts for “Fast Speed” and “Very Fast Speed”, and emergency shift trackers have been added to pickable resources as well.

All of the balancing and mechanical updates are available along with a bunch of fixes to certain other gameplay elements as well.

In celebration of the new Survivor Mode update, you can grab Frostpunk right now for 25% off the normal $29.99 price point. According to Matt Smail’s review, the game is worth picking up.

You can grab a copy from the Steam store, the GOG.com store or the Humble Store.
