MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries Delayed To 2019

The President of Piranha Games, Russ Bullock, has come forth on social media to announce that MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries has been delayed to 2019. This move is said to better polish the game and its single-player mode.

If I had to be honest here, the delay comes in as no surprise. Way back in late 2017 seemed quite clear to me that a 2018 release didn’t seem likely. Well the day has come, and Bullock had this to say on his Twitter account:

Driving the point home as if it were a nail in a door comes a follow-up point from Piranha Games Senior 3D Artist, Arman Nouri, who notes that Mercenaries will be even “more amazing with the new 2019 release.”

Of course, Bullock retweeted this to let everyone know that more information on this game will drop late this year on December 1st at MechCon in Vancouver. As it stands now, it looks like MechCon will be the go-to place to learn all things Mercenaries, which supposedly includes its release date.

According to Twitter, the place where Bullock disclosed the delay, has raised concerns regarding the game, development and so on. Other people seem to be optimistic about the whole thing, while others find this news as no surprise.

If you happen to find yourself in none of the aforesaid groups and have no idea what Mercenaries the game has to offer, Bullock claims that we should expect single-player MechWarrior experience like the 2002 edition. Also, intense PvE and a career-based Mercenary campaign will also be a thing. And lastly, the game running on the Unreal Engine 4 will sport mods and a co-op mode.

If all of the above sounds like something you can get behind, Piranha Games will show off MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries at MechCon 2018 later this year, which if you’re a hands-on kind of person, do know a playable demo will be up at the event, too.
