The Piano, 1940s-Themed Noir Horror Game Launches On Steam

Mistaken Visions announced that their period piece horror game, The Piano, is currently available for purchase from over on Steam.

The game is available for $9.99 but during the first week of being available on the Steam store, you can get it for 25% off the normal price for only $7.49.

This is one of the very rare games set during 1940s Paris, France that isn’t themed around World War II… thankfully. Instead, The Piano is a horror, noir-mystery where players will embody the character of John Barnerway, a half-breed whose mother is French and father is American. John’s brothers are all renowned pianists who end up being murdered.

The police believe John killed his brothers, which results in him being witch hunted in the media worse than Left wing propagandists going after President Trump over every single tweet he makes.

You can check out the trailer for the game below to get an idea of what the indie studio has been working on.

The theme of the game is about attempting to find out who the real killers are of John’s brothers and explore the surreal reinterpretation of Paris while dodging ghostly specters, embracing the psychological horrors of John’s past, and exploring the environment in order to solve of the puzzles scattered around the game world.

The game features constant perils and threats for John to face off against, but unfortunately it doesn’t sound like he’ll have any weapons in which to fight back against the ghastly apparitions.

The game seems more like a walking sim version of Silent Hill perhaps, with a lot of focus on the atmosphere and thematics of the environment rather than the direct gameplay mechanics being put front and center.

I’m guessing if you enjoyed games like The Astronauts’ The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, you might take a liking to The Piano.
